“Camera Talking To CHAMPIONS” is a photographic project of portraits by me, Billie Scheepers, of individuals who are considered pioneers in their field. From artists and musicians to scientists and entrepreneurs.

With this project I want to celebrate these “CHAMPIONS”,  bringing to the fore these great women and men who represent a point of reference, a touchstone for inspiring others.

Each portrait will be accompanied by a short written piece, taken from conversations with me on the shoot, that give an intimate and personal insight into their life journey, experiences, motivations and what inspires them.

The individual “CHAMPIONS” chosen for the project will come from a broad spectrum of industries and backgrounds, across age groups and continents, and will range from worldwide celebrities to unknown individuals.  The common ground for all is the strength in their desire to succeed in their chosen field and their drive to achieve groundbreaking change, to positively impact the world we live in today and to give hope and inspiration to the world.

“Camera Talking To CHAMPIONS” will ultimately become a book and exhibition.

This website is a teaser for what the project is about. The full interviews and all images taken on the day, including some playful shots behind the scenes, will be fully revealed in the book and exhibition.

Here’s to the crazy ones.  The misfits.  The rebels.  The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square hole.  The ones who see things differently.  They’re not fond of rules and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things.  They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
